| The hills surrounding São Bras are covered with cistus bushes, arbustus-berry trees and cork-oaks, and the whole area is rich in almond, olive and fig trees. The local cuisine is famed for its use of fresh herbs grown locally and during the hunting season, wild rabbit cooked in red wine is a delicious tradition. |
| All in all, São Bras is a simple and typical Algarvian town with streets of white houses occasionally interposed with decorative tiled façades, opulent iron verandas and ornate stone-work – trappings which hark back to a century ago when São Bras prospered as the biggest cork producing centre in the world. Today cork production has moved to the centre and north of the country. |
